Societies in Sargodha are growing and the gate is where the pressure shows. Number plate recognition (ANPR) lets residents in without stopping and records every visitor.
How it works
A camera reads the plate as the car approaches. If the plate is on the whitelist, the barrier opens. If not, the guard logs the visitor on a tablet and the system records entry and exit times.
What it costs compared with guards
A single-lane gate with camera, barrier and software is a one-time cost. Compare it with the annual cost of extra guards and the arguments at the gate, and most managements find it pays back quickly.
Questions to ask a vendor
- Has the camera been tested on Pakistani plates?
- What happens in a power cut?
- Can management see reports?
- How are new residents added?
- Is there anti-crush safety on the barrier?
